After the stupendous success of the film Vaaranam Aayiram starring Surya, Sameera Reddy and others, Gautham Vasudev Menon is currently directing a breezy entertainer titled “Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaayaa” starring Silambarasan and Trisha in the lead.

The film which has been under production has been shot vtvextensively at Chennai, Kerala and Malta. With an urban look to it, the story is set between two young people who fall in love. The film is almost complete with some portions and the climax to be shot. The authenticity and mood of the film is maintained by shooting at some realistic ambience in and around Chennai and some picturesque locations at Allepey, Kerala.

A much awaited musical from the Oscar Award Winning Composer A R Rahman, the film is sure to churn out some magic in its own special way, rendering some unforgettable and soulful numbers in the composer’s style, shot to the creative visuals of Director Gautham. The musical got a shot in the arm when Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaayaa’s music director A R Rahman was nominated for 3 Oscars and bagged two.

With five song situations in the film, three songs have been composed already, out of which two songs have been shot extensively in Malta at some virgin locations.

The song “Hosanaa”, sung by Vijay Prakash of “Jai Ho” fame, penned to the lyrics of Thamarai and a rap by Blaze is a sure hit among the young crowd for its peppy beats and stunning visuals shot by Manoj Paramahamsa at Malta corresponding to the stylized choreography by Flexy Stu of Adiye Kolluthey fame.“Omana Penne” written by Thamarai too and sung by A R Rahman himself, holds a style of its own in the way it has been sung and programmed.

This song too has been shot at Malta with choreography done by Flexy Stu and is a sure favorite for all A R Rahman fans!

Manoj Paramahamsa (cinematographer) with his captivating visuals adds to the beauty of the film, with the ambience authenticity envisioned by Rajeevan (art director) and the crisp cutting of Anthony (Editing).

Nalini Sriram adds to the appearance of the film with striking costumes for all the actors in the scenes and songs. The costumes made for the songs are eye catching elements that are hard to be missed by the audience!

The film also has Ganesh, Babu Anthony, Kitty, Uma Padmanabhan and Lakshmi Ramakrishnan playing pivotal roles.

The film is produced by Madan and Ganesh (Escape Artists Motion Pictures) and Kumar and Jayaraman (R.S.Infotainment). (rahmaniac.wordpress.com)

Music Producer - Easy Steps to Becoming a Top Producer.

When it comes to music producers, Larry Levan and Frankie Knuckles - known as the godfathers of House music - brought about a near-revolution into the world of Dance music. Over the years, the music they evolved has grown and newer themes have formed and spawned new genres in music. It brought hope for many enthusiasts who always wanted to create a little Dance music for fun and more so for those professionally inclined.
Are you among the enthusiasts that who would like to be a music producer? These days, it's incredibly easy to get into producing Dance music in your own home and it isn't all that expensive.
It's pretty simple!
These days, the entire Dance music evolution is packed into one incredible piece of software. All you have to do to learn how to make music like a pro is install a good piece of music production software, or DAW (digital audio workstation), on your home computer or laptop.

With the help of a good music program, getting started with making Dance music is definitely a great deal easier than jumping in at the deep end - probably a lot easier than you may have ever imagined it. You do not need to know much about music theory and you do not have to be a technical expert. All you need is a home computer and a passion for dance music to create a good dance track.

To become a professional Dance music producer you need to identify what type of music you would like to specialise in. This should be the style you are most passionate about and want to get to grips with. You could choose from drum-n-bass, synth-pop, electropop, electronica, house, trance, electro... the list goes on. With a little research, you will find a host of options you could experiment with and you can take inspiration from other artists, both new and old, as well as growing trends to hone in on your style and work out what makes a good Dance production, in terms of arrangement, mood and instrumentation.

The opportunities

As a dance music producer, you can either write your own music and market it or collaborate with other artists in remixing. You could also work as freelance music producer. Another option is to write music for media and jingles for advertising agencies.

One can expect a decent salary as a dance music producer though it is difficult to find such jobs. There are, however, many an opportunity for freelancers and there are limitless returns if you are willing to put in a bit of hard work to establish yourself as a music producer.

What it takes?

With some dedicated work and good music sense, it is possible to create some excellent sounding tracks sitting right in your house and with the help of minimal instruments. To be able to reach a stature whereby you can deliver a decent track and quality sounding mix of a professional level, you need to invest some time and some concentrated effort. As the quality of work improves, you need to start looking into the marketing aspects of your career. This can be done through researching promotional websites, playing at parties and other gatherings, press releases, etc. and may even entail hiring a marketing company to get your name out there.

First Step - Take a crash course!

There are a number of dance music tutorials are available, which will help you initially to get going. Listening to music of popular artists that interests you will also help. The top favorites include the likes of Deep Dish, Ferry Corsten, Armin van Buuren etc.

Be inspired!

DJ Jack Smooth is an example of a successful dance music producer. He was working as a DJ of a pirate station when he got addicted to house music. He got himself a set of decks and started to work. After getting into music production, by the time he was 23 years old he had put out over 250 records.

Jack Smooth's music stands out because he makes his own music rather than remixing other peoples music. This should be an inspiration for anyone who dreams of making it big in the field of dance music production.

As an established Dance music producer I know how hard it can be to get started and even harder to get your foot in the door. That is why I've created a lens on becoming a Dance music producer which tells you everything you need to know about making Dance music, from what you need to get started, the software you can use to create music down to recommended tutorials and, of course, the wages.

The love of people towards music

The love of people towards music
By: Brain Caron Shelly
The perfect definition of music has not yet been discovered yet, but one close definition is that it is a form of art consisting of audible sound soothing to the human ears. Human beings have generated different forms of music, starting from the beginning of music era. Music varies according to culture, society, language etc. People of different culture have their unique type of music. The love of people for music is unimaginable. Billions of people all around the world are addicted to music. This is however the only addiction which is good for people.

Nowadays, the most popular form of music is the rock music. Rock music originated in the 1940s, during which rock was better known as rock-n-roll. Later during the 1960s rock was derived from rock-n-roll. This rock music mainly consists of electric guitars, bass guitars, drums, keyboards. Looking back at that period we can find many rock legends. Following these legendary rockstars, many people have learnt playing their favorite musical instruments and established their name all through the world. However, all those who learn playing instruments for long time do not succeed in gaining success. The reason behind this is the lack of proper promotion of their music to the general people.

Promotion of a band was very difficult previously, but nowadays it has become very easy with the use of Riff Raters. Riff Raters is a music app present in iphone, using which people can record their riffs or songs and spread it all over the country. Other iphone users find these uploaded songs in their music app of iphone, listen to them and give ratings accordingly. The most rated songs or music riffs get superior rank and are more likely to be noticed by the other listeners. Due to this easy method of music promotion, many talented musicians have come to the limelight. But this music app is helpful only if the music is good and liked by audience. Without the support of the audience, it is impossible to get success; and to win people’s heart you need to compose goof music.

Apart from this method of music promotion, there are other ways also. But, those ways are not as easy and effective as this one. Some of the other ways are uploading songs or riffs in you personal website or in your account in any social networking website, but there is no surety whether others will visit your website or not. You can also distribute your music CDs to others, but that would cost a lot. The use of Riff Raters has outraced all the other ways of promotion of music or a band. This music app is the most popular nowadays; anyone can record their songs or music riffs and spread it.

In earlier times, solo artists or bands had to sign up with music production companies to let people know about their music. It was very hard as the companies often refused to publish songs of the unknown bands. Due to this many talented singers and musicians got lost in the crowd of others.

If you want to promote your band, then the iphone app Riff Raters can be very helpful. It can be used to send your to other iphone users.

Kevin ‘KC’ Cossom

comments
Kevin ‘KC’ Cossom is easily poised to be R&B’s next breakout star thanks to both his undeniable vocal skills and his phenomenal songwriting capabilities. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s the first artist signed to red-hot producer Danja’s ‘New Age Rocks Stars’ (N.A.R.S) imprint either.
Born in Philadelphia and raised in Orlando, Florida, Kevin Cossom first found his love and talent for song in church. Kevin’s mother- an educator and founder of a performing arts academy- was her son’s first supporter, encouraging him to perform his first solo at the tender age of three. He later joined his first group, a gospel act his mother assembled, at the age of six. However, the young singer/songwriter didn’t realize that he wanted to make music his life until he was 14. Once the high school-aged Kevin met Rashad Tyler, his manager, that’s when things began to click for the young upstart.
It didn’t take long for the hungry rookie to get put on. In 2004, he was featured on his first song, Lloyd Banks’ ‘Karma.’ Thanks to fellow Orlando sons/producers The Runners, Kevin followed that up with his first songwriting credit when he penned the R. Kelly hook on Young Jeezy’s ‘Go Getta.’ He has also been featured on albums from Beanie Sigel, Rick Ross, Chamillionaire, Trey Songz and Rocko, among others. “For me, songwriting was a way in… I thought that other songwriters didn’t take me seriously because I was just placing hip-hop hooks,” says Kevin.
They’re taking him seriously now…in fact it was those guest appearances that scored Kevin an audience with Grammy award winning producer Danja (Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake). “I went to work with Danja in Miami as a songwriter for a girl group he was working with,” says Kevin. “It was like instant chemistry. He asked me if I was just a writer, and I told him no, it was just another passion and something I did to pay the bills. We talked some more, he heard me sing and the rest is history!”
With the support of Danja, KC is gearing up for the release of his as yet untitled debut album, which he describes as a direct reflection of who he is—part urban, part suburban and part spiritual. “My music is really eclectic. Not backpack or playing on the conga eclectic, but I am inspired by anything that pushes the music to another level. I would definitely describe my sound as unpredictable, but at the same time safe enough to understand. Its feel good and it’s fresh.” In an age of reality stars and hardcore hip-hoppers, it’s good to see that there are some artists who are still doing this for the love of the music. Whether it’s his moving voice or his soulful songwriting, Kevin’s love and passion for the game is what will have his fans wanting more.

Service Music the Lost Artist

Music shapes history and reminds us of memorable events. What would the Vietnam War be without: The Beatles, The Rolling Stone, Roy Orbison, Len Berry, The Four Seasons The Supremes, Frank Sinatra, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, The Turtles, The Rascals, and Frankie Vallie.

Where is music today? As the world evolves: technology, socio-economic growth, and culture; the evolution of music has found its way to the fore front of quick fixed greed. Music was once represented by Independent Artists that were dedicated to their craft, worked hard and new what true sacrifice meant. Is money the root of all evil? As we look at our artists today who become musicians by way of money. Jennifer Lopez "J-Lo" can be considered a semi-average actress, after making lots of money she’s now decided to be a semi-average pop-star. Let’s not forget our NBA star Shaquille O’Neal, who equally took a stab as a Rap artist. What about our friend NEO… oops or shall we call him Keaunu Reaves. It seems the former Bill and Ted Excellent Adventure star has finally made a name for himself in Hollywood and now we can all listen to his band Dogstar. We see sex appeal pay off as well as the money to buy a record deal for J-Lo, Brittany Spears, Ashley Simpson, Lisa Presley, and now Paris Hilton. What’s going on? Are these people real musicians?

This is my question to you. We are now turning on the television to watch American Idol to watch future musician be nothing more than "sound-alikes" or the better word un-original make shift artists. There are lots of talented people on American Idol but can they really compare to: Fleetwood Mac, U2, and Kiss or those that have changed the world and have influenced bands today: Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, and The Rolling Stones- just to name a few.

As we listen to Paris Hilton and other such money whores, we must remember the real artist. Music is meant to be created by true hard working, God given talent- not bought by posers wanting a stage. We must respect those that have truly sacrificed for the sake of real memories and history. Oh where, oh where did the true artists go?

Service Music the Lost Artist
By: Greg Joes

It begins as a dream, a dream that usually starts during childhood where the craving for expression never ceases. Several such dreams blossomed in the early 70’s and had continued conception in 1976. What is so special about 1976?
1976
• In Phi Beta Kappa Memorial Hall, President Gereald R. Ford and Democratic nominee Jimmy Carter began the 3rd presidential debate of the 1976 Campaign.
• The Winter Olympics added ice dancing to their program and the gold for US in the women's event was won by Dorothy Hamill.
• The Copyright Act came into effect becoming Public Law number 94-553.
• The subway system in Washington DC is opened.
• The final score: 112-106 ends the final ABA game ever played, as the New York Nets defeat the Denver Nuggets and win the American Basketball Association championship.
• Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak form the Apple Computer Company.
• Marcus Welby, M.D. airs its final episode of this medical TV drama.
• Idaho’s Tetron Dam collapses.
• Son of Sam kills one person and wounds another in his first series of attacks in the city of New York.
• From the north-eastern U.S. to south-eastern Canada; Groundhog Day gale hits.
More importantly, while the world was evolving, true Independent Artists were building the foundation of music that would equally change the face of history and permanently imbed itself within the fabrics of our memories. What is so special about 1976?
Not only does Fleetwood Mac record Rumours in 1976, which would become a blockbuster album in 1977; but Kiss would release their unforgettable first platinum album, The Destroyer and Larry Mullin Jr. would form U2 in Dublin. True Rock and Roll were defined by the still popular U2, as their chemistry kept the bond creating great service music for 29 years. This struggling band stuck together through near-poverty and fortune.
Rock and Roll sounded like the rugged voice of Stevie Nicks, as Fleetwood Mac roots were inspired by The Bluesbreakers, John Mayall’s legendary British Band. The wave of what is considered legendary music of today was rooted by the dramatically shoddy Alice Cooper and the remaining New York glam-rockers of Kiss. Let’s not forget to mention this band’s influences: The Beatles, Black Sabbath, and David Bowie; all of which had their own influences. It is a chain reaction of quality and inspiration within the music culture of today. One great memorable band would not be who they are had it not been for another. The Beatles as we know were one of the ground breaking bands ever in the 20th century and regardless of their breakup in 1970; the band continues to influence others. The Beatles, as great as they were, had their influences- musicians, artist who they deemed as "great." Their two influences were: Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan-the two greatest icons that fathered Rock and Roll. The Beatles and Bob Dylan continued to influence the unforgettable Jimi Hendrix.

A brief introduction to acoustic guitars

A brief introduction to acoustic guitars
By: Charlie Board
Acoustic guitars can add a refreshing dimension to guitar playing, either providing scope to impress with a solo performance, or through adding an ‘unplugged’ quality to a band’s set.

There are generally two kinds of acoustic guitar: classical guitars, usually with wider necks and nylon strings; and steel-stringed acoustic guitars.

Both types of guitar can be used to play a spectrum of acoustic musical styles. The classical guitar however is the instrument of choice for the player of classical guitar music, largely because of its warm tones. It is also the required instrument for those wishing to take traditional academic guitar examinations.

Although classical guitars can be played with a plectrum, the more conventional method is to pluck the strings with the thumb and fingers. This has the advantage of being able to simultaneously sound a pair of strings that are normally too far apart to be reached with a single plectrum stroke or a thumb stroke on its own. The result is an exquisite blend of deep bass and treble tones, and a complete ‘orchestra’ of both harmony and melody. Many classical guitarists grow the fingernails of the plucking hand to add volume to their output.

The steel-stringed acoustic guitarist can also adopt a similar style of finger plucking technique. Again, the combination of bass notes, treble notes, harmony and melody can make the solo acoustic guitarist sound as if he or she is playing two or more guitars. Plectrum playing, however, is more frequently associated with steel stringed acoustic guitars, and different strumming styles lend themselves equally well to pop, rock, folk or jazz styles.

Acoustic guitars will usually require a special acoustic amplifier, particularly when playing in larger venues.

We at Fret Music can advise on the most appropriate set up for any budding acoustic guitar player, and can offer a range of acoustic guitars at great value prices.
